  1. Cottage cheese dumplings-can be served as a starter or a desert

    1/2 kg of flour
    1/4 cottage cheese
    (you can also add different spices such as cumin, dill or paprika if to be served as starter)
    200 gr. of butter
    4 eggs
    salt-powder sugar-grated lemon peel

    Put the flour into a mixing bowl, add the eggs, mix it with a spoon (preferably wooden) than add the butter cut in small pieces (left outside the fridge for one or two hours before starting to cook). Mix the dough first with the spoon than with your hands, than make it into a ball and take it out of the bowl and place it on a flat surface previously sprinkled with flour. Work te dough into a medium layer (thicker than a pasta layer) than cut it into medium size square pieces. Place the cottage cheese in small heaps in the middle of each square and fold it in a triangle pressing on the rim of the dough to close it.
    Bring to boil about 1/2 l of water, add salt, and boil the dumplings at 160 C. Than take them off with a strainer spoon and rinse them in cold water. Place them on an oven tray and cook for about 10 min. at 180 C.
    Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve with sour cream.
